Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.
Success also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
